I Challenged Myself to Cook "Real Food" for 30 Days.

Here’s What Week 2 Looked Like.

If Week 1 was about getting started, Week 2 was about variety. I wanted to prove to myself that eating "Real Food" doesn't mean eating the same salad every day. It means finding ways to nourish your body whether you are rushing to work, celebrating a festival, or just craving comfort food on a Friday night.

Here is the lineup for days 8 through 14.

Protein Pancakes

Started the week with a breakfast that felt like a cheat meal but wasn't. I made fluffy, high-protein pancakes and topped them with a mountain of fresh berries. It was the perfect example of how a "sweet" breakfast can still be nutritious enough to keep you full and energized until lunch.

The Protein Power Plate

Sometimes you just need a plate that hits every macro. This was my "perfect balance" meal: lean protein (fish), healthy greens (saag), and complex carbs (rice). It wasn't fancy, but it was colorful, satisfying, and exactly what my body needed after a workout.

Onion Chili Uttapam

Back to basics with fermented goodness. Uttapam is one of my favorite gut-health breakfasts because the batter is fermented, making it incredibly easy to digest. I topped mine with plenty of crunchy red onions and spicy green chilies for that savory kick I love in the mornings.

Sprouted Black Chana

One of my absolute staples. I took black chickpeas (kala chana), sprouted them to boost their nutritional value, and stir-fried them with spices. In South India, we call this Sundal. It’s high in fiber, packed with protein, and requires zero fuss to make.

Loaded Quinoa Bowl

Who says quinoa is only for savory salads? I swapped my usual oats for quinoa cooked in almond milk. Topped with nuts and a drizzle of sweetener, it has a wonderful nutty texture that’s a nice change of pace from traditional porridge. A great way to switch up the grain rotation.

Chicken Curry on a Whim

I didn't plan this one! I had chicken and onions on hand, so I grabbed a Kay's Curries Omni Masala Kit and let it do the work. It was rich, spicy, and proved that a "from scratch" taste is possible even on a busy weeknight without spending hours chopping spices.

Celebration Halwa (Pongal Festival)

We ended the week on a high note for the Pongal festival. I made the famous Kay's Curries Halwa, loaded with pure ghee and nuts. "Real Food" isn't about restriction; it's about celebrating culture and enjoying traditional desserts made with whole, real ingredients.
