I Challenged Myself to Cook "Real Food" for 30 Days.

Here’s What Week 3 Looked Like.

We are officially in the home stretch! Week 3 was all about listening to my body. With everyone around me getting sick, my focus shifted from just "eating clean" to "eating for immunity."

This week was less about elaborate meals and more about healing broths, warm porridges, and gut-friendly superfoods. It was a reminder that in Indian culture, the kitchen cabinet is basically a pharmacy.

Here is the lineup for days 15 through 21.

"South Indian Penicillin"

We kicked off the week fighting the flu with Rasam. It’s a spicy, tangy tamarind broth loaded with black pepper, cumin, and garlic. In my house, we call it "South Indian Penicillin" because it clears your sinuses and wakes up your digestion better than anything you can buy at a drugstore.

The "Original" Superfood

I swapped my oatmeal for Ragi Malt (Finger Millet). It might look like chocolate pudding, but it's an ancient grain that has 3x the calcium of milk. Sweetened with unrefined jaggery and topped with sesame seeds, it was a warm, calcium-rich hug in a bowl on a cold morning.

The "Zero Guilt" Snack

The ultimate "volume eating" hack for the 4 PM slump. I made a spicy Muri Mixture (Puffed Rice Salad) tossed with crunchy veggies and sprouted black chana. It’s a massive bowl of food that is spicy, crunchy, and satisfying, but light as air so it doesn't weigh you down before dinner.

Spicy Guava Slices

The original "Swicy" (Sweet + Spicy) snack. I simply sliced fresh white guava and sprinkled it with red chili powder and salt. Not only does the heat make the fruit taste sweeter, but guava actually has 4x the Vitamin C of an orange making it an essential snack for flu season.

The OG Golden Milk

My nighttime recovery drink. This isn't just a trendy latte; it's Haldi Doodh. I made it the traditional way with turmeric and a crucial pinch of black pepper (which boosts absorption by 2000%). It’s the best way to soothe a scratchy throat and ensure a deep, restorative sleep.

The "Global Fusion" Bowl

I broke some rules here! I made a massive comfort bowl using Korean noodles, Thai Red Curry broth, Lotus Root, and frozen dumplings. It was proof that "Real Food" can also mean raiding your freezer for high-quality shortcuts when you need a comforting meal fast.

Sprouted & Steamed

To end the week, I focused on gut health with a Sprouted Moong Salad. But here is the trick: I steamed the sprouts first. While raw sprouts are popular, steaming them makes the protein easier to absorb and is much gentler on the stomach. Tossed with onions and chilies, it was the perfect "no-bloat" meal.
