How spicy is it? Spice level 1 out of 5. This is the mildest kit in our lineup. Warming and aromatic with no heat at all.

What sizes does it come in? Two sizes: 2 servings at $9.99 and 4 servings at $14.99.

Is it good for camping? Yes. One pot, just add water and oil, no chopping or prep. The Masala Kichadi works on a camp stove as well as a stovetop or Instant Pot. One of our most popular camping kits.

How many does it serve? The 2-serve kit serves 2 people. The 4-serve kit serves 4 people.

What do I need from home? Water, oil, and a saucepan or Instant Pot. Butter, ghee, or vegan butter is optional for serving.

Can I make it more filling? Yes. Serve with a fried or poached egg on top if you eat eggs, or add a side of yogurt or dairy free yogurt. You can also stir in a handful of fresh spinach right after cooking for extra vegetables.

Does it come in a spicier version? No. Masala Kichadi is our mildest kit. For more heat, try the Vegetable Biryani or the Chicken Biryani.

How do I store leftovers? Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Add a splash of water when reheating and stir well, as kichadi thickens as it cools.

Why do I need to discard whole spices? The spice blend includes whole spices like cloves and cinnamon that release flavor during cooking but are not meant to be eaten. Remove them before serving or let people know to set them aside on their plate.

Every Kay's Curries kit traces back to my mother's kitchen in India. Kichadi was the dish she made when someone needed comfort quickly. No fuss, no ceremony, just rice and lentils cooked soft with good spices and served hot. I grew up eating it when I was unwell, when I was homesick, and when dinner needed to happen fast. It is the dish I come back to when I need something real. This kit is that dish made allergen free, seed oil free, and designed to travel wherever you go. Made small batch at Hope and Main in Warren, RI. Never a factory. Always from scratch. Kalpana
