Why You'll Love It

This pack exists because dining halls cannot guarantee safe food for students with allergies. Shared equipment, rotating menus, changing staff. Your student should not have to wonder what is in their food.

Four meals, 10 servings, every one free from peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, and sesame. Every ingredient is listed right here on this page and printed on every bag. Nothing hidden, nothing to decode.

Each one cooks in one pot, in an Instant Pot or on any stovetop. No shared dining hall equipment. Your student controls every ingredient from the bag to the bowl.

Stock a drawer before move in. Pull one out when the dining hall is not safe, when it is late, or when ramen stops being enough.

  • Built for college students with food allergies
  • Your student makes it themselves in one pot
  • Safe backup for every meal the dining hall cannot guarantee
  • Shelf stable for the full semester
  • Makes a great care package from home

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for shoppers with dietary needs or questions about this product.

Can my student use an Instant Pot in their dorm?
Appliance policies vary by school. Some dorms allow Instant Pots in the room, others allow them in community kitchens only. Check your school's housing policy before move in. All four meals also cook on any stovetop, in one pot with water.

What is the best Instant Pot for a college student?
The Instant Pot Duo Mini (3 quart) is the most popular for dorm rooms. Small enough for a desk, big enough for 2 to 4 servings. Any Instant Pot model works with the Dorm Essentials Pack.

What cooking items are allowed in dorm rooms?
This varies by school. Some allow Instant Pots in dorm rooms, many allow them in community kitchens only. Mini fridges and microwaves are the most commonly approved appliances. The Dorm Essentials Pack works with an Instant Pot or any stovetop. One pot and water is all you need.

How long does each meal take to cook?
On the stovetop, Vegetable Biryani, Masala Kichadi, and Pav Bhaji take about 15 minutes. Pappu Dal takes about 30 minutes. In an Instant Pot at high pressure: Masala Kichadi 4 minutes, Vegetable Biryani 5 minutes, Pappu Dal 7 minutes, and Pav Bhaji 8 minutes, plus a few minutes to come to pressure and release. Step by step: Vegetable Biryani and Pav Bhaji instructions.

How spicy are these meals?
On a scale of 1 to 5: Masala Kichadi and Pappu Dal are 1, not spicy. Pav Bhaji is 2, low to medium. Vegetable Biryani is 3, medium.

Is the dining hall safe for students with food allergies?
It depends on the school, but most college dining halls cannot guarantee zero cross contamination. Shared equipment, rotating menus, and changing staff all create risk. Having allergen free meals in the dorm room means your student always has a safe option they control completely.

How do I handle food allergies at college?
Talk to the dining hall about allergen protocols, but have a backup plan. Stock your student's dorm room with meals they can make themselves. The Dorm Essentials Pack gives them four meals, 10 servings, with readable ingredients and none of the nine major allergens. No dining hall required.

What can you cook in a college dorm room?
Anything that works in one pot. Most dorms have a community kitchen, and these kits cook on a stovetop or in an Instant Pot. The Dorm Essentials Pack includes four meals, 10 servings total: Vegetable Biryani, Masala Kichadi, Pappu Dal, and Pav Bhaji. Just add water.
